The Department has also been engaged in research activities especially related to strengthening TB control programs in countries with high burden of tuberculosis.

(1)    The Department has initiatives of carrying out research focused on operational aspects of tuberculosis control including DOTS expansion, quality assurance of TB laboratory, urban TB program and advocacy.

(2)    A field project has been carried out in the northern Thailand, where HIV and TB co-infection is a major concern as introduced in the section of Department of Research. The staff in department of international cooperation have been involved in the project.

(3)    Research projects on HIV/AIDS in collaboration with Japanese Foundation for AIDS Prevention have been carries out in Myanmar, Cambodia, and Thailand.
